What Is a Click-Through Rate Calculator?
A click-through rate calculator determines the percentage of impressions that result in clicks. Click-through rate, commonly abbreviated as CTR, is a widely used measurement for evaluating how often people click a displayed search result, advertisement, link or other digital content.
CTR can be used when analysing search engine results, online advertising, email campaigns, websites, landing pages and other digital marketing activities. Calculating the rate makes it easier to compare click performance between campaigns, pages, keywords, advertisements or other measurable sources.

How to Calculate Click-Through Rate
Click-through rate is calculated by dividing the number of clicks by the number of impressions and multiplying the result by 100. The standard formula is: CTR = (Clicks ÷ Impressions) × 100.
For example, if an advertisement receives 200 clicks from 10,000 impressions, its CTR is 2%. This means that 2 out of every 100 impressions resulted in a click. The same basic calculation can be applied to many digital marketing and search performance measurements.
CTR Formula
The CTR formula expresses the relationship between clicks and impressions as a percentage. A CTR of 1% means there was one click for every 100 impressions, while a CTR of 5% means there were five clicks for every 100 impressions.
CTR in SEO and Digital Marketing
Click-through rate is frequently used to analyse organic search results and paid search advertising, as well as display advertising, email marketing and other digital campaigns. In SEO, CTR can indicate how frequently searchers select a result after seeing it, although rankings, search intent, query type and other factors also influence the number of clicks received.
Understanding Click-Through Rate Results
CTR should always be interpreted in context. There is no universal CTR that represents good performance across every platform or campaign. Click-through rates can vary substantially according to the traffic source, industry, audience, device, advertisement format, search query, position and type of content being measured.
For meaningful comparisons, use consistent measurement methods and compare similar campaigns, pages or traffic sources over appropriate periods. A higher CTR can indicate that an item is attracting more clicks relative to its impressions, but CTR alone does not measure the quality of those clicks, conversions, revenue or overall business performance.
