What Is a CSV to Text Converter?
A CSV to Text Converter transforms comma-separated values and other CSV-style data into readable plain text. CSV files are commonly used to store structured information in rows and columns, but the raw format can be inconvenient when you need to read, copy or reuse the information as ordinary text.
This tool lets you paste CSV data and convert each record into a clearly formatted text block. It can be useful for reviewing exported data, preparing information for documents, creating readable notes, extracting records from spreadsheets and turning structured CSV content into text that is easier to read.
Why Use the CSV to Text Converter?
Converting CSV manually can be time-consuming, particularly when the data contains many rows or fields. This tool automates the formatting process and provides a readable result that can be copied and reused immediately.

How to Use the CSV to Text Converter
Converting CSV data takes only a few steps. For the best results, make sure your input uses a consistent delimiter and follows a standard CSV structure.
- Paste your CSV data — Enter or paste the CSV content into the input field, with each record on its own line.
- Select the separator — Choose comma, semicolon, tab or Custom depending on how your data is structured.
- Choose formatting options — Decide whether to treat the first row as column labels and whether field names should be included in the output.
- Convert the data — Select Convert to Text to generate the formatted plain-text result, then use Copy Result if you need to reuse it elsewhere.
Convert CSV to Plain Text Online
CSV, or comma-separated values, is a widely used format for storing tabular data as plain text. Each line generally represents a record, while separators divide the individual fields within that record. Although CSV is convenient for data exchange, it is not always the easiest format to read when you need to review individual records outside a spreadsheet or database.
The YesTools CSV to Text Converter provides a simple way to turn structured CSV information into a more readable text format. Rather than displaying a long sequence of comma-separated values, the converter can use column names to identify individual fields, making the resulting text easier to understand and copy.
Convert Different CSV Delimiters
Not every CSV-style file uses a comma as its delimiter. Some applications export data using semicolons, while tab-separated values are also commonly used. The converter supports comma, semicolon and tab separators, as well as a custom separator for other structured text formats.
Make Spreadsheet Data Easier to Read
CSV data is frequently exported from spreadsheets, databases, contact-management systems and other applications. Converting that information into labelled text can make individual records easier to inspect, share, paste into documents or use as a reference without opening the original spreadsheet.
How CSV to Text Conversion Works
The converter reads the supplied CSV content one row at a time and separates each row into individual fields according to the selected delimiter. Standard quoted CSV fields are recognised, so a separator appearing inside quotation marks is treated as part of the field rather than as a new column.
When Include header labels is enabled, the first row is treated as the column-heading row rather than a normal record. When Label fields using column names is enabled, those headings are used to identify the corresponding values in each converted record. If no header row is selected, the output uses generic field labels such as Field 1, Field 2 and Field 3.
All processing takes place locally in your browser. The tool does not require a CSV file upload, account or server-side conversion service. For very large datasets, browser performance may vary depending on the device and browser being used.
