What Is a Duplicate Text Finder?
A Duplicate Text Finder is a tool that searches text for repeated lines or identical pieces of content. It counts how many times each line occurs and identifies the lines that appear more than once.
This can be useful when cleaning lists, preparing data, checking copied content, reviewing text files or removing repeated entries from a document. The tool can also create a new version of the text with duplicate lines removed.
Why Use Duplicate Text Finder?
Repeated lines can be difficult to identify manually, particularly when working with long lists or large amounts of text. Duplicate Text Finder provides an immediate summary of repeated lines and their occurrence counts.
Find Duplicate Lines
Identify every line that occurs more than once in your text.
Count Occurrences
See how many times each repeated line appears in the input.
Remove Duplicates
Generate a version of your text containing only the first occurrence of each line.
Ignore Case
Treat uppercase and lowercase versions of the same line as duplicates when required.
Ignore Whitespace
Ignore leading and trailing whitespace when determining whether two lines match.
Browser-Based
Analyse your text directly in your browser without requiring a server-side text processing service.
How to Use Duplicate Text Finder
Use the tool to identify repeated lines and optionally create a clean version without duplicates.
- Enter your text — Paste or type the text you want to analyse into the text area.
- Choose your options — Select Ignore case, Ignore leading and trailing whitespace or Ignore blank lines if required.
- Find duplicates — Select Find Duplicates to analyse the text.
- Review the results — View repeated lines, occurrence counts and the generated text with duplicates removed.
Find Duplicate Lines Online
Finding duplicate lines is useful when working with lists, datasets, text files and other structured content. Repeated entries may occur because information has been copied more than once, data has been merged from multiple sources or a document has been edited repeatedly.
Duplicate Text Finder checks each line independently and groups matching lines together. The results show the repeated text and its total number of occurrences, making it easier to identify and review unwanted repetition.
Remove Duplicate Text From a List
The tool can also create a deduplicated version of your input. The first occurrence of each line is retained in its original order, while subsequent occurrences are removed. This can be useful for cleaning lists of names, URLs, keywords, identifiers and other line-based data.
Find Repeated Text With Different Formatting
Comparison options allow the matching process to be adjusted for common formatting differences. When Ignore case is enabled, uppercase and lowercase differences are disregarded. When whitespace is ignored, leading and trailing spaces do not prevent otherwise identical lines from matching.
How Duplicate Detection Works
The tool treats each line as a separate text entry and compares its normalised value with other lines. A line is classified as a duplicate when the same comparison value occurs more than once.
The displayed duplicate text comes from the first occurrence in your input. The deduplicated result also preserves the order of the first occurrences. Blank lines can either be included in the analysis or ignored using the available option.
