What Is an Etsy Fee Calculator?
An Etsy Fee Calculator is a tool for estimating the costs associated with selling an item through Etsy. Instead of looking only at the advertised selling price, it considers common Etsy charges such as the transaction fee, Etsy Payments processing fee and listing fee, together with optional costs such as Offsite Ads, currency conversion and other expenses.
This calculator is particularly useful for Etsy sellers who want to understand their actual profit before listing or pricing a product. Enter your sale price, postage, costs and applicable Etsy fees to see an estimated payout, total fees, profit, margin, return on investment and break-even price.
Why Use the Etsy Fee Calculator?
Etsy selling costs can include several different charges, and a product that appears profitable at its sale price may have a much smaller margin after marketplace fees and fulfilment costs. This calculator brings the main costs together in one calculation.

How Etsy Selling Fees Are Calculated
Etsy's selling costs are made up of several different charges rather than one single marketplace fee. For a UK seller using Etsy Payments, the standard transaction fee is 6.5% of the total order amount, while Etsy Payments currently adds a 4% processing charge plus £0.20 per order. Etsy also charges a standard USD $0.20 listing fee, which is converted into the seller's payment account currency.
Postage can be important when calculating the real cost of an Etsy sale. Etsy's transaction fee applies to amounts charged for postage and gift wrapping, while payment processing is calculated from the total sale price including postage and applicable sales tax. The UK Regulatory Operating fee is also calculated from the item price and postage, including applicable gift wrap and personalisation amounts, while tax collected by Etsy is excluded from that regulatory fee.
Etsy Transaction and Payment Processing Fees
The 6.5% Etsy transaction fee is separate from the Etsy Payments processing fee. For UK payment accounts, Etsy currently lists payment processing at 4% plus £0.20 per order. Both charges can therefore have a significant effect on lower-priced products because the fixed £0.20 processing component represents a larger proportion of a small sale.
Etsy Advertising and Other Selling Costs
Advertising can substantially change the economics of an Etsy sale. Offsite Ads charges apply when an eligible order is attributed to an Etsy Offsite Ad. Etsy currently lists a 15% rate for shops below the USD $10,000 threshold over a consecutive 365-day period and a reduced 12% rate after reaching at least USD $10,000. The fee is capped at USD $100 per attributed order. Currency conversion can also add a 2.5% charge when Etsy needs to convert funds between the listing currency and the payment account currency.
Important Information About Etsy Fee Estimates
Etsy fees can change, and the exact amount charged on an individual order can depend on circumstances that are not possible to determine from a simple sale price alone. Listing fees are published in US dollars and may therefore have a different GBP equivalent depending on currency conversion. Advertising, taxes, refunds, payment-account circumstances and other Etsy services can also affect the final amount.
The calculator is designed to provide a practical estimate for pricing and profit analysis rather than replace Etsy's own financial records. Before making business or pricing decisions, compare the result with the current fee information provided by Etsy and the actual charges shown in your Etsy Payment account. The calculator also allows you to enter VAT and additional costs manually so that you can adapt the estimate to your own circumstances.
