What Is a Gradient Generator?

A gradient generator creates a smooth transition between two or more colours. Instead of selecting a single background colour, you can combine colours and control how the transition appears across an element.

The YesTools Gradient Generator is designed for web designers, developers and anyone creating digital interfaces. It generates CSS code directly in your browser, so you can experiment with different colour combinations and immediately use the resulting gradient in a website or other CSS project.

Why Use the Gradient Generator?

The tool provides a quick way to create and customise CSS gradients without manually writing gradient syntax. Changes are reflected in the preview and generated CSS immediately.

1

Live Preview

How to Use the Gradient Generator

Create a gradient by selecting the type, choosing your colours and adjusting the available settings.

  1. Choose a gradient type — Select Linear Gradient or Radial Gradient.
  2. Choose your colours — Use the colour pickers or enter hexadecimal colour values for each colour stop.
  3. Adjust the gradient — Set the angle for linear gradients or the shape and position for radial gradients. You can also change individual colour stop positions.
  4. Copy the CSS — Select Copy CSS to copy the generated background declaration to your clipboard.

Create Custom CSS Gradients Online

CSS gradients are useful for website backgrounds, buttons, cards, banners, navigation elements and other interface components. Unlike a conventional image background, a CSS gradient is generated by the browser from colour and positioning instructions, which makes it easy to modify and scale.

The Gradient Generator lets you create CSS gradient backgrounds visually. You can choose the colours, control their positions and switch between linear and radial gradient types. The generated CSS can then be copied into a stylesheet and applied to an element using the background or background-image property.

Linear CSS Gradients

A linear gradient transitions between colours along a straight line. Its direction can be controlled with an angle, making it suitable for horizontal, vertical and diagonal designs. Multiple colour stops can be added when a transition requires more than two colours.

Radial CSS Gradients

A radial gradient transitions outward from a central point. CSS supports circular and elliptical radial gradients, and their position can be adjusted to create different visual effects. Radial gradients can be useful for highlights, backgrounds and decorative interface elements.

Using Generated CSS

The generated code is standard CSS and can be used in modern web browsers. For example, the generated declaration can be placed inside a CSS rule such as .hero, .button or another element selector.

Colour values are generated as hexadecimal values and gradient stop positions are expressed as percentages. The tool performs its calculations locally in your browser, and the generated gradient does not require an external service to function.
