What Is a List Randomiser?
A List Randomiser is an online tool that rearranges the items in a list into a random order. Instead of manually mixing names, words, numbers or other entries, you can paste your list into the tool and generate a shuffled version in seconds.
It can be useful whenever you need an unbiased-looking order for a list, such as choosing participants, arranging tasks, creating a random sequence, organising entries or simply shuffling text. The tool works directly in your browser and does not require software installation.
Why Use the List Randomiser?
The List Randomiser provides a quick way to shuffle text-based lists without manually rearranging individual entries.
Instant List Shuffling
Randomise your list with a single click and generate a new order immediately.
Works With Any Text
Randomise names, words, numbers, labels, tasks, entries or other text-based lists.
One Item Per Line
Paste a simple line-separated list into the input area without needing special formatting.
Remove Duplicates
Optionally remove repeated entries before the list is randomised.
Copy Your Result
Copy the completed randomised list to your clipboard for use in another application.
Browser-Based
The list is processed directly in your browser, with no software installation required.
How to Use the List Randomiser
Randomising a list takes only a few steps. For the clearest results, enter each item on its own line.
- Enter your list — Paste or type the items you want to randomise into the input box, using one item per line.
- Choose your options — Decide whether to trim whitespace, remove empty lines or remove duplicate entries.
- Randomise the list — Select “Randomise List” to shuffle the entries into a new random order.
- Copy the result — Use “Copy Result” to place the randomised list on your clipboard, or use it as the new input for another shuffle.
Randomise a List Online
Randomising a list can be useful when the original order of entries should not determine what happens next. The List Randomiser takes a line-separated list and shuffles its entries into a new arrangement, making it suitable for names, participants, teams, tasks, ideas, numbers, words and many other types of text.
Because the randomisation happens in your browser, the tool can produce a result without requiring you to upload a text file or create an account. You can randomise the same list repeatedly to produce different arrangements whenever you need another shuffle.
Randomise Names, Participants and Teams
A randomised list can help organise names or participants when you need an order that is not based on alphabetical order, position in the original list or another predefined sequence. For example, you can shuffle a list of participants before assigning turns, arranging presentations or selecting a sequence for activities.
Shuffle Lists of Words, Numbers and Tasks
The tool is not limited to names. You can enter words, numbers, task descriptions, categories, options or other text. Each line is treated as a separate list item, allowing the entire sequence to be shuffled while keeping the text within each item together.
How List Randomisation Works
The List Randomiser separates your input into individual lines and then applies a random shuffle to the resulting entries. Each randomisation can produce a different ordering, so there is no fixed alphabetical or numerical sorting applied to the result.
Whitespace and duplicate handling are optional. By default, leading and trailing whitespace is removed and empty lines are excluded. You can enable duplicate removal when repeated entries should not appear more than once. The original input remains available until you clear it or choose to replace it with the result.
