Generated Nano IDs
0 IDsWhat Is a Nano ID Generator?
A Nano ID generator creates compact, unique identifiers using a configurable set of characters. Nano IDs are particularly useful when an application needs identifiers that are shorter than many traditional UUID representations while remaining suitable for URLs, databases, APIs and application data.
The YesTools Nano ID Generator creates identifiers directly in your browser. You can choose the length, generate multiple IDs at once and select from several character sets without installing software or sending your generated values to a server.
Why Use the Nano ID Generator?
This free Nano ID generator provides control over the identifier length and character alphabet, making it useful for software development, testing, databases, APIs and other technical tasks.
Custom ID Length
Generate Nano IDs from 1 to 128 characters long to match the requirements of your application.
URL-Safe Characters
Use a URL-friendly alphabet containing letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores by default.
Bulk Generation
Generate up to 1,000 Nano IDs in one operation for testing, development and data-generation tasks.
Custom Alphabet
Specify your own set of characters when a project requires a particular identifier format.
Copy and Download
Copy generated identifiers to your clipboard or download them as a plain text file.
Browser-Based
Generate identifiers directly in your browser without an account, installation or server-side processing.
How to Use the Nano ID Generator
Generate one or more compact identifiers by selecting the desired length and character set.
- Choose the ID length — Enter a value from 1 to 128 characters. A length of 21 is selected by default.
- Choose the quantity — Enter the number of Nano IDs you need, from 1 to 1,000.
- Select the character set — Choose URL-safe, alphanumeric, letters, numbers or enter a custom alphabet.
- Generate and use your IDs — Click Generate Nano IDs, then copy the results or download them as a text file.
Generate Nano IDs Online
Nano IDs are compact identifiers designed for applications that need short strings with a large number of possible combinations. Their configurable alphabet makes them suitable for many environments, including web applications, APIs, databases and URLs.
The length of an identifier affects the number of possible combinations available. Increasing the length increases the size of the identifier space and reduces the probability of an accidental collision when identifiers are generated independently.
URL-Friendly Nano IDs
URL-friendly identifiers can be useful when an ID appears in a web address, API endpoint or other location where certain punctuation characters may require encoding or special handling. The default alphabet used by this generator contains letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores.
Nano IDs for Development and Testing
Bulk Nano ID generation can be useful when creating test records, mock API responses, sample datasets or development fixtures. The generator can produce up to 1,000 identifiers in a single operation, with one identifier displayed on each line.
Nano ID Length, Alphabets and Uniqueness
A Nano ID does not have one mandatory length for every application. The appropriate length depends on the alphabet size, expected number of identifiers and acceptable collision probability. Longer identifiers provide more possible combinations, while shorter identifiers are more compact.
This generator provides several predefined alphabets as well as a custom alphabet option. A custom alphabet should contain enough distinct characters to provide an appropriate identifier space for the intended application.
Nano IDs should not be treated as an absolute mathematical guarantee of uniqueness. Applications with strict uniqueness requirements should enforce uniqueness at the database or application level, such as by using a suitable unique constraint.
For random generation, this tool uses the browser's Web Crypto API when available. The generated identifiers are produced locally and are not checked against an external database for existing values.
