Random Token Generator
Generate secure random tokens instantly with customisable lengths, character sets and quantities using your browser's built-in cryptographic random number generator.
Random Token Generator
Choose your token settings, then generate one or more random tokens. Generation happens locally in your browser.
Choose a token length from 8 to 128 characters.
Generate between 1 and 50 tokens at once.
Select at least one character set for the generated tokens.
Random characters use your selected character sets. Hexadecimal and Base64 URL-safe formats use their own standard character sets.
When custom characters are provided, only those characters are used for random character generation.
Generated Tokens
No tokens generated yetPrivacy: Tokens are generated locally in your browser using the Web Crypto API. The generated values are not sent to a YesTools server by this tool.
What Is a Random Token Generator?
A random token generator creates strings of randomly selected characters for use in software development, testing, authentication systems, temporary identifiers and other technical applications. A token can contain letters, numbers, symbols or a format-specific character set depending on how it will be used.
This free Random Token Generator lets you control the length and number of generated tokens while choosing between random character, hexadecimal and Base64 URL-safe formats. Token generation is performed directly in your browser, so the generated values do not need to be transmitted to a server.
Why Use the Random Token Generator?
The tool provides a quick way to create random values without installing software or writing code. It is suitable for developers, system administrators, testers and anyone who needs random token values for legitimate technical purposes.
Cryptographically Strong Randomness
The generator uses the browser's Web Crypto API rather than a basic predictable pseudo-random function.
Custom Token Length
Generate tokens between 8 and 128 characters long to suit different development and testing requirements.
Multiple Tokens
Create up to 50 random tokens in a single operation and copy or download the resulting list.
Multiple Formats
Choose standard random characters, hexadecimal values or URL-safe Base64 characters.
Browser-Based
The generator works directly in a modern web browser without requiring an application, plugin or software installation.
No Token Uploads
Token generation takes place locally, meaning generated values do not need to be uploaded to a remote service.
How to Use the Random Token Generator
Configure the token settings and generate your required values directly in your browser.
- Choose the token length — Use the length control to select between 8 and 128 characters.
- Select the number of tokens — Enter how many tokens you want to generate, from 1 to 50.
- Choose the format and characters — Select random characters, hexadecimal or Base64 URL-safe format. For random characters, choose the character types you require.
- Generate and use the results — Select Generate Tokens, then copy the results to your clipboard or download them as a TXT file.
Secure Random Token Generation Online
Random tokens are commonly used when an application needs a value that is difficult to predict. Examples include temporary identifiers, development data, test values, application-specific tokens and other situations where a random string is required. The appropriate token format depends on how the value will be processed and where it will be used.
This Random Token Generator uses crypto.getRandomValues(), part of the browser's Web Crypto API, to obtain random bytes from the browser's cryptographic random number generator. When selecting characters from a configurable character set, the generator uses rejection sampling so that character selection does not introduce the simple modulo bias that can occur when random byte values are directly reduced using a remainder operation.
Random Tokens for Development and Testing
Developers can use random tokens when creating test records, mock data, temporary identifiers or development configurations. Generating several values at once can also be useful when preparing datasets or testing systems that need to process multiple unique-looking strings.
Choosing the Right Token Format
Random character tokens provide flexibility because you can choose the character types included in the result. Hexadecimal tokens contain only the characters 0-9 and A-F, making them convenient when a restricted character set is required. Base64 URL-safe tokens use letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores, making them suitable for contexts where values need to be transmitted as part of URLs or other URL-compatible data.
Random Token Security and Limitations
The generator is designed to produce strong random values using the Web Crypto API available in modern browsers. However, generating a random token is only one part of an application's overall security. Applications using tokens for authentication, sessions, password resets, account recovery or other sensitive functions should also implement appropriate expiration, validation, storage, transport and revocation controls.
The generator does not automatically guarantee that tokens are unique across every system or application. The probability of accidental collisions becomes extremely small as token length and randomness increase, but applications should still handle duplicate values correctly where uniqueness is a requirement. Do not expose sensitive production tokens unnecessarily, and never use generated values as a replacement for a complete authentication or authorisation design.
