Text to ASCII Converter
Convert text into decimal, hexadecimal or binary ASCII codes instantly in your browser.
Text to ASCII Converter
Enter text, select an ASCII output format and separator, then convert each supported character into its corresponding ASCII code.
What Is a Text to ASCII Converter?
A Text to ASCII Converter changes standard ASCII text into the numerical codes assigned to each character. ASCII, which stands for American Standard Code for Information Interchange, is a 7-bit character encoding standard containing 128 values from 0 through 127. For example, the uppercase letter A has the ASCII value 65, while the lowercase letter a has the value 97.
This tool is useful for developers, programmers, students and anyone working with character encoding, programming languages, data formats or technical documentation. It converts supported text directly in your browser and can produce decimal, hexadecimal or binary ASCII representations.
Why Use Text to ASCII Converter?
Converting text to ASCII codes manually can be slow when a string contains many characters. This converter processes every character consistently and gives you a copy-ready sequence of ASCII values.
Decimal ASCII
Convert text into standard decimal ASCII values such as 72 101 108 108 111 for Hello.
Hexadecimal ASCII
Generate hexadecimal ASCII representations such as 48 65 6C 6C 6F for Hello.
Binary ASCII
Represent each supported ASCII character as its binary numerical value for technical and programming use.
Flexible Separators
Choose spaces, commas or individual lines between the generated ASCII codes.
ASCII Validation
Characters outside the standard 7-bit ASCII range are identified instead of being silently converted incorrectly.
Browser-Based
Conversion happens directly in your browser, with no software installation or server upload required.
How to Use Text to ASCII Converter
Use the converter to transform standard ASCII text into numerical character codes in just a few steps.
- Enter your text — Type or paste the text you want to convert into the input field.
- Select an output format — Choose decimal, hexadecimal or binary ASCII values.
- Choose a separator — Select spaces, commas or new lines to control how the resulting ASCII codes are arranged.
- Convert and copy — Click “Convert to ASCII” and then copy the generated codes or use the result as your next input.
Convert Text to ASCII Codes Online
Every character in the standard ASCII character set has an assigned numerical value. When text is converted to ASCII, the converter replaces each supported character with its corresponding value. For example, A becomes 65, a becomes 97, the number 0 becomes 48, and an ordinary space becomes 32.
The word Hello becomes 72 101 108 108 111 when represented as decimal ASCII. The same word can be represented as hexadecimal ASCII using 48 65 6C 6C 6F, or as binary ASCII using 1001000 1100101 1101100 1101100 1101111.
Decimal, Hexadecimal and Binary ASCII
Decimal ASCII is the most straightforward numerical representation and uses values from 0 through 127. Hexadecimal is commonly encountered in programming, debugging and technical documentation, while binary represents the underlying 7-bit ASCII values using zeroes and ones. The characters themselves are unchanged; only their numerical representation differs.
ASCII Character Codes and Text Encoding
ASCII provides a defined mapping between common English letters, numbers, punctuation, whitespace and control characters and their numerical values. This makes ASCII codes useful when inspecting character data, understanding programming output or communicating values in systems where numerical character representations are required.
Understanding ASCII Conversion and Its Limitations
Standard ASCII is a 7-bit character set with 128 possible values from 0 through 127. Values 0 through 31 are control characters, values 32 through 126 are printable characters, and value 127 is the DEL control character. Characters such as tabs and line breaks also have ASCII values; for example, a tab is 9 and a line feed is 10.
ASCII does not contain every character used in modern written languages. Accented characters such as é, currency symbols such as € and emoji are outside standard ASCII and require Unicode. This converter therefore rejects characters whose Unicode code point is outside the standard 0–127 ASCII range rather than producing misleading ASCII values. Extended ASCII is also not treated as a single universal standard because values above 127 vary between different character encodings and code pages.
