Weeks Between Dates Calculator
Calculate the exact number of weeks between two dates, see the remaining days, and optionally count both dates with this free online Weeks Between Dates Calculator.
Weeks Between Dates Calculator
Enter a start date and end date, choose whether to include both dates, and select Calculate.
The standard result measures the elapsed calendar days between the two dates. Enable inclusive counting when both the start and end dates should be included in the range.
What Is a Weeks Between Dates Calculator?
A Weeks Between Dates Calculator determines how many weeks fall between two calendar dates. Instead of manually counting days across months and then dividing the result by seven, this tool calculates the date difference automatically and presents it as complete weeks and any remaining days.
This calculator is useful when planning projects, tracking schedules, working out deadlines, comparing date ranges, planning events, checking subscription periods or determining how much time has passed between two dates. It also accepts dates in either order, so you can calculate the distance between dates without first rearranging them.
Why Use the Weeks Between Dates Calculator?
Calculating weeks manually can be inconvenient when a date range crosses different months, contains a leap day or covers a long period. This calculator performs the calendar calculation instantly and provides both the total elapsed days and the equivalent number of complete weeks.
Accurate Calendar Calculation
Uses the actual selected calendar dates and correctly handles different month lengths and leap years.
Instant Results
Calculations are performed immediately in your browser without requiring a server or external software.
Weeks and Days Breakdown
See the total elapsed days converted into complete weeks with any remaining days clearly shown.
Inclusive Counting
Optionally count both the start and end dates when you need the full number of calendar days in a range.
Flexible Date Order
Enter dates in either order. The calculator identifies which date is earlier while still providing the correct absolute difference.
Works in Your Browser
No installation, account or additional software is required. The calculation runs directly on your device.

How to Calculate the Number of Weeks Between Two Dates
To calculate weeks between two dates, first determine the total number of elapsed calendar days separating the dates. Divide the number of days by seven. The whole-number portion represents complete weeks, while the remainder represents additional days.
For example, if two dates are 45 days apart, the difference is 6 complete weeks and 3 additional days because 6 weeks contain 42 days. The calculator performs this conversion automatically and displays both the total number of days and the weeks-and-days breakdown.
Elapsed Weeks vs Inclusive Date Ranges
The standard calculation measures the elapsed time between two dates. For example, from 1 January to 31 January there are 30 elapsed days, which is 4 weeks and 2 days. If both dates are included in the count, the range contains 31 calendar days, or 4 weeks and 3 days when expressed as a simple weeks-and-days total.
Why Date Order Does Not Affect the Result
The distance between two dates is the same regardless of which date is entered first. For example, the number of days between 1 March and 15 March is the same as the number between 15 March and 1 March. This calculator therefore uses the absolute difference while separately identifying the earlier and later dates.
Understanding Weeks Between Dates Results
The standard result represents elapsed calendar time between the selected dates. If both dates are identical, the elapsed difference is 0 days and therefore 0 weeks and 0 days. When inclusive counting is enabled, a same-day range contains 1 calendar day because the single date is counted.
The calculator accounts for the actual calendar structure, including months with different numbers of days and leap years containing February 29. Dates are normalised to UTC calendar midnights before the calculation is performed, preventing local daylight saving time changes from incorrectly adding or removing an hour from the result.
